Love
hearts are all around
Valentine’s
Day is drawing near
Hubby and I don't make a fuss
We've been together many years.
Back
when our romance was young
(And,
let’s face it, so were we)
We
embraced Valentine’s Day
Made
a bit of an effort, you see.
I remember those exciting times
When
we were truly smitten 💕
Valentine’s
cards were purchased
And romantic words, written.
Cute
toys were exchanged
And
flowers were a winner
We'd often pop a cork (or two!)
Along
with a nice dinner.
Ads
in the newspaper
Were
carefully arranged
But,
after we were married,
Well…
Valentine’s Day changed.
I
asked for no more flowers
Notices,
or stuffed bunnies
Valentine’s
Day became low-key
In
order to save money.
Now
we just exchange small gifts
To
show that we each care
They’re
often sweet and edible
…Chocolates
(not underwear!)
